Doctify’s Alice and Karan were tasked with decorating for our Halloween party. They helped us to stay mindful and make eco-friendly choices, choosing sustainable and plastic-free decorations.
How challenging was it to find sustainable Halloween decorations?
Alice: We found it really hard at the beginning, because most decorations you find are unsustainable and create a lot of extra garbage as they are single-use items.
How did you avoid buying plastic decorations?
Alice: We used natural items, like pumpkins, to create a spooky décor. We did a carve-out competition to make it even more fun. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about throwing our decorations out at the end of the night. There are so many creative ways of reusing pumpkins, and they are compostable.
Karan: It’s a bit more work to come up with sustainable decorations than simply buying ready-made ones, but we made it fun. We knew that the extra effort was worth it to keep our Halloween party as eco-friendly as possible. Alice created bats and roses out of recyclable paper, and we incorporated chocolates as a part of our decorations to make the place stand out more
