He was awarded a prestigious Clinical Research Training Fellowship funded by the British Heart Foundation which funded his PhD at Imperial College London. Dr Sohaib’s PhD investigated how pacemakers improve symptoms in heart failure. He has published numerous articles in international peer reviewed scientific journals and regularly speaks at national and international cardiology meetings. He is author of the book "Decoding Cardiac Electrophysiology".

He enjoys teaching and training young aspiring cardiologists. He was President of the British Junior Cardiologists’ Association (BJCA) and was on the Council of the British Cardiovascular Society.
