Prof. Guido Pieles, Consultant Congenital Cardiologist, is currently the director of Cardiac Health & Performance Ltd., a sports cardiology consulting company. He has a wealth of experience treating both children and adults with inherited cardiac conditions and sports and exercise cardiology issues. He is very experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies, inherited cardiac conditions and in the cardiac performance assessment and care of athletes. He is renowned as an internationally recognised expert in sports cardiology and takes a special interest in Football cardiology.
Prof. Guido Pieles obtained his medical degree abroad from the University of Marburg/ Germany, before moving to the UK to do a DPhil at Oxford University in cardiovascular genetics. He later underwent specialist training in children and adult congenital cardiology/ inherited cardiac conditions/ echocardiography at the Bristol Heart Institute and the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto He is also an active member of the research community and focused on the development of innovative methods to monitor cardiac performance in elite athletes and young people with inherited heart disease.
