All staff at the RMH private wing were very friendly and absolutely great at making one feel at ease even when undergoing a relatively uncomfortable procedure. I cannot praise them enough.

My prostate cancer diagnosis was unexpected and alarming. I was helped through the process by the efficient, friendly and endlessly patient staff at the Royal Marsden. I am so grateful for the treatment that I have been so fortunate to receive.

The care at the Royal Marsden Hospital was outstanding in all aspects.

The staff were patient-centred, highly professional and particularly kind. I especially appreciated the fact that I was (as an NHS patient) on a private ward, with my own room.

I live outside London so most my contact with the Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) has been via the phone or email, except for visits for pre-op blood tests, removal of the Catheter and the operation, of course. My dealings with the nursing staff have been positive. They have been friendly, helpful and efficient. I had some issues with the drainage bag in the early hours of the night following discharge but the Macmillan nurses sorted me out (using the phone in one hand and the video on the other phone). Communication between the Macmillan nurses and the RMH has been excellent Being an out of area patient does bring special challenges. Travel was one concern We did not feel safe using public transport to travel to the hospital during the pandemic. On most occasions we drove down and parked in a reasonably priced car park near Sloane Square, about 10 minutes’ walk from the RMH. We booked an Airbnb from the day before the op to a couple of days after (just in case we had unexpected issues and needed to visit the hospital.) We chose accommodation that was as close as possible to the hospital so that I could check out the route beforehand and walk back there after the operation and without the need for transport. My operation was performed at the Cromwell Hospital and there are many budget hotels close by. Sainsburys was across the road from the flat but we brought our provisions with us to keep contact with others to a minimum. I brought an antiviral spray with me to use around the flat and also communal areas like the lift and door handles.

Friendly and efficient team who were at all times patient and forthcoming in responding to my question and concerns. Good facilities. Very glad to have had access to the 'out of hours' helpline which offered reassurance on a couple of occasions when issues (minor as it turned out) arose.
