Excellent experience throughout, even during the surgery itself, for which I was awake. And the surgery has been very successful. I will not hesitate to recommend him to others with any hand related health issues.

Explanation

Mr Lamyman gave me confidence in his expertise immediately. He listened to me and respected my wishes. I was in no doubt of his ability to be able to perform my operation at any stage of the process. On the morning of my operation he took the time to go through the process again and remind me of the risks involved and to ask if I had any questions. Mr Lamyman came to see me when I was in recovery to explain that the procedure had gone well and then came to see again when I was back in the hospital room to check that everything was ok and to stress that if I had any questions or worries to get in touch. I received a follow up email within an acceptable time frame stating that if I needed any additional support that I MUST get in touch. Follow up consultations were arranged and went well. Mr Lamyman listens, has a gentle manner and gave me the confidence to voice any concerns and applauded my efforts at physiotherapy. He didn't criticise me when it seemed that I might have done too much whilst trying to get back to work at my normal levels, which caused some swelling in my finger, but understood why I was trying to get back to my normal routine. My dupuytrens contracture is hereditary - this hand has been operated on once before, but Mr Lamyman recommended a slightly different procedure to try and stop the contracture on this hand recurring. Whilst operations aren't much fun, and recovery takes longer as I grow older I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Lamyman without reservation for such a procedure. He's not anxious to operate for the sake of it and I respect that and thank him for the level of care he took with me and my hand and for treating me as a person rather than another hand to fix.

Explanation

I was nervous going into my first consultation with Mr Lamyman but I was soon put at ease by his manner, and his professionalism and knowledge of the proposed surgery inspired confidence. I felt safe and happy that he would be doing the procedure. He talked me through the risks involved, what he would do to mitigate them, and this reassured me. He went the 2nd mile to make sure I could be slotted into his schedule for surgery, appreciating the nature of my occupation, as a missionary overseas and only back in the UK for short visits. As I had the procedure done under local anaesthetic, I was even able to watch parts of it, and he explained everything that was happening. I was impressed that he 'stitched me up' at the end of the procedure rather than handing me over to another clinician. His personal care was wonderful and I felt that what was happening to me really mattered to him.

Mr Lamyman was very knowledgeable and personable. He took time to understand how the issues with my wrist were impacting my CrossFit training and what treatment was needed to ensure I could get back to competing. Three months post surgery I am making great progress and now getting back to training as I did pre-injury , which is great.
