I'm a 32 years old mom who has been struggling with my body image, my weight since I was a teenager. I used to take laxatives, binge eat, vomit, go on food strike for days, go on crash diets just to lose weight. I've been yoyo dieting for more than 15 years. At 30, I realized that I have had nervosa bulimia binge eating disorder since I was a teenager that I wasn't aware of. The extra weight I am carrying was depressing me, I have had a long struggle with it, and I am failing to succeed with this battle. The extra weight was not only affecting my mental health, but also it was making me physically tired, back pain, feet pain & struggles in daily movement and activity. I didn't have any healthy relationship with food, I had continuous guilt, I hated my body and how I look. I avoided taking care of myself, I avoided looking at myself in the mirror. Getting out of bed everyday and getting dressed was a daily fight. I decided that I cannot go on any other diet as I have zero energy and tolerance to commit again to a new failure. I decided to proceed with a gastric sleeve surgery. I booked an appointment with Dr. Tamer Said thinking that all we will do is schedule the surgery date and get it done. Surprisingly Dr. Tamer's approach was different. He listened carefully to my medical history. He did not agree that gastric sleeve is an option to my case since I have done Fundoplication surgery for GERD and he prefers not to undo a previous surgery to avoid risks of complications post the surgery. He suggested mini bypass as the best option in my case but still did not book the surgery date before he was done with his complete medical investigation. He requested blood tests, ultrasounds, CT scans and endoscopy prior to even approving that I'm fit for the surgery! Finally, after one month he decided that we can proceed with the surgery. The surgery itself was the easiest I could say. I expected that it will be so painful and hard. I was discharged the 2nd day after the surgery and I didn't even need any pain killer tablets as I was not in pain. On the 4th day I was able to go to work and function normally. On the 5th day post the surgery, I visited Dr. Tamer for my first follow-up, I had lost 5kgs! I have been able to daily walk 10,000 steps and go to work since then. Today on my 9th day post surgery I had lost 8kgs in total. I had insomnia for 2 nights, once I texted Dr. Tamer he immediately responded and he called me to follow up what was the progress. Best thing I could describe Dr. Tamer is that he is a real caring and ethical Dr. He is not a materialistic Dr, he respects people's lives and will not accept to put any risk on a human's life. Thank you Dr. Tamer for being a genuine Doctor as people like you are rare nowadays.
