Unfortunately your poor communications have taken the shine off things. I saw my consultant on a Monday for the first time, with a view to surgery during the upcoming weeks. On Thursday of the same week, I received a phonecall, to complete a medical form, as we spoke. One of the questions was to ensure, that somebody would accompany me to my appointment, to drive me home, which I confirmed. Later on that day, I received an appointment by text message for the following Monday, very first thing. This is not a particularly convenient time for me, and was also at very short notice. Expecting to have surgery that day, I made my arrangement with employers not to be working that Monday, and made sure I was accompanied to the appointment. When I turned up, I learned that this appointment was not for surgery, but merely for swab tests. For this, I did not need to be accompanied, and would have been able to work for the rest of the day! If I had realised this appointment was merely for a swab test, I would have rearranged it for a more convenient time. However, the purpose of the appointment was not clearly communicated, and the communication was sent just a couple of hours after my medical questionnaire conversation. So it was only natural on my part to assume this appointment was for the surgery itself. Bottom line - please clearly communicate the purpose of any appointment you make with a client. Also if you book a patient in at short notice, please make sure the time is suitable for them.
