I first met Professor Brownson 4 years ago with extremely debilitating pain in both shoulders. MRI scans showed multiple pathologies, with surgery more than likely to be the best outcome. I was very reluctant to go down the surgical route for many reasons, so Professor Brownson has seen me on an open clinic basis many times over these 4 years. He has used various treatment options along with referring me for nerve blocks. His empathy, understanding, engagement and knowledge is above and beyond, plus the treatments I have received (particularly the Ostenil Plus injections and Suprascapular Nerve blocks) have been life changing for me pain wise. I know surgery may be the only option in the future, but I am so grateful that Professor Brownson has gone down an alternative route for me, without me feeling pressured into surgery in any way. I have had some negative experiences in the past with Orthopaedics, but I can say that my trust has been restored with Professor Brownson. Therefore I am very disappointed to learn that he is retiring next month. He has, however, assured me I will be well looked after by one of his colleagues. I would also like to mention Claire and Betty who have made me so welcome and helped me so much in the Bone and Joint Centre. Wishing Professor Brownson a long and happy retirement!

Very professional Explains everything very well and very thorough with examination and diagnosis

Mr Odak was approachable, listened carefully, conducted his examination and interpreted the X-ray. His explanation of the diagnosis was clear and detailed, his explanation of the next steps likewise. A clearly knowledgeable physician who inspires confidence.

Excellent treatment and after care for a shoulder replacement. I am in my 80s and I am very happy that the pain has gone and I can use my arm again.
