Overall my experience of Circle hospital was good. My room was clean and comfortable. My admission was a little rushed but that was because my surgeon could see me earlier. The anaesthetist ensured that I was well informed of what would occur. He explained exactly what I could expect and he and his assistant made sure I was comfortable and at ease until the anaesthetic took effect. All of the circle staffing team from reception/ nursing/ cleaning and catering teams I met were friendly, helpful & kind. Although, during my stay I felt that maybe there were staff shortages in the nursing team as they seemed under pressure. For example: - There were a 2 occasions that I had to request scheduled medication. - unfortunately, I needed to return after discharge for an unexpected medical issue. Initially the nurse on shift carried out a couple of procedures that didn’t have the expected effect. During this time, it seemed as though the nursing team were finding it difficult to reach the ward doctor and that at times they were unsure what to do next which was disconcerting to me and my family. I do not believe this to be a fault with the nursing team at all, it was a highly stressful experience and in hindsight It would been have been better to attend the local a&e as I believe they would have been better prepared for the type of issue I experienced. I would like to add that the nurses really did treat me with kindness and compassion. I also found the catering and cleaning teams were very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and the catering team even packed up lunch for me to take home. Overall, I would be happy to return to circle hospital for surgery but possibly not for a more acute issue.
