Together with my wife and son, he took the time needed to carefully explain his assessment of my case and the forward treatment alternatives. We elected that I should undergo a complex surgery with a lengthy recovery time after he laid out the alternatives, the relative risks and his forward recommendation. Tev talked me through the procedure, its pluses and minuses, with a clear understanding of the sufferers state of mind, concerns and expectations. The procedure was no more troublesome than expected and I clearly recognised every step and element of the explanation I had been given. In terms of benefit: • I now have excellent bladder capacity • At each urination I empty my bladder completely • My bladder control is back to that of twenty years ago, especially with regard to “When & Where!” • Sexual urge and capability is maintained although as expected, ejaculation is retro (backwards into the bladder) which is not inconvenient and a small price to pay for the day to day advantages of having undergone HoLep.
