Mr Sturridge was very pragmatic right from the start. He quickly assessed my hip and realised I needed a full replacement. But critically he also assessed the knee pain I had been suffering with for 5 years as likely to be referred pain from the hip. Mr Sturridge visited me in the afternoon after the morning op to check I was comfortable and to let me know everything went well. I was able to get up and walk a few steps with a walker that day. Within two weeks I was able to walk unaided without crutches and at my six week check up with him I was walking up to an hour! Mild pain was completely gone within a month and the scar is very neat and healed well. I cannot have hoped for a better outcome as true to his word the knee pain I have suffered for so long (and three knee ops) has completely gone! Thank you so much!

Very caring, empathetic man who puts your mind at ease quickly

I was fortunate enough to be referred to Mr Platt when I began to have knee problems. He suggested a half knee replacement. Mr Platt was incredibly supportive throughout, going the extra mile to help me with several issues I had with the insurance company. At each consultation, he spent time explaining what would happen, pros and cons etc. I never felt rushed and he explained things really well, without being patronising. Early on, I had a lot of questions which I emailed to Mr Platt and I received a very detailed and considered response which exceeded my expectations. At the hospital he made himself available and I saw him straight after the op and each morning afterwards, so I felt that he really cared about me as a patient. He was always very cheerful and positive, listening and responding to each of my concerns, which he must have heard a thousand times, with patience and graciousness. As far as I can tell his work is superb as I had a great recovery and my life is significantly improved. I was happy with the number and frequency of follow up consultations I had, before I was discharged. I'd not hesitate to go back to Mr Platt in future and would recommend him to anyone having knee or hip issues.

Can’t rate Mr Davidson highly enough! I was referred to him by my GP due to osteoarthritis in both knees. X-rays had already confirmed this. On our first meeting, he X-rayed my hips and found the same problem. One total hip replacement and total replacement of both knees was therefore necessary. This was August. By March all three operations were completed. Before he started, we checked his statistics online. In a trade where practice really does make perfect, he had completed a greater than average number of procedures with less than average complications. This is no doubt due to his thoroughness and attention to detail which was mentioned by his registrars in post-op discussion as being above average. He instils confidence with his cheerful, friendly and humorous personality and a calmness which belies the stress that must accompany this job. My operations were all completed successfully and I am very pleased with the results. At 68 I had developed the gait of a 90-year old, but have been transformed by these ops into......a normal 68 year old (at least)! Many, many thanks.

Reassuring and very competent

Mr Lemon was a very nice, approachable person who I felt had plenty of time for me. He explained my procedure and came to see me on the ward, before and after my operation, which was much appreciated.

Mr McGarvey has literally changed my life after 2 partial knee replacements this year. After 20 years of pain I can now walk properly. Mr McGarvey was very thorough explaining everything including my X-rays, recovery which was very quick. A nice man and amazing surgeon.
