We had watched him on a video from the macular Society and had been very impressed by his knowledge and the way he communicated. We were not disappointed when we met him we are so pleased to have found him a professional and very knowledgeable in his field.

the consultation was useful but there was no follow-up booked as promised, and the PA was uncontactable moving forwards (either by phone or email). From previous reviews I can see this is not abnormal which is not reassuring for anyone moving forwards.

I first met Dr Pillai in 2017 for my ICL treatment and found his level of personal service and care to be unparalleled. Other clinics had suggested laser treatment, whilst Dr Pillai was the only surgeon who advised against it due to the high risk with my prescription. Throughout the surgery, I felt well looked after and Dr Pillai answered all my questions calmly and reassuringly. A few months post-ICL, unfortunately I had a freak accident playing table tennis which affected my vision. I went back to Dr Pillai who quickly organised a team for an emergency procedure (free of charge!) and this saved my vision! In my recent visit to Dr Pillai last week (2024), his attention to detail remained impressive. He took the time to thoroughly explain and show the scan results, ensuring a comprehensive consultation. Unlike other clinics where you're treated like a number, Dr Pillai genuinely cares for his patients. Overall, I find Dr. Pillai to be exceptionally honest and trustworthy. I am deeply grateful to him and his team for their outstanding care and would highly recommend Dr. Pillai. Thank you to Dr. Pillai and his team for everything!

Miss Valerie Saw recently performed very successful cataract surgery on both of my eyes and provided excellent advice and solutions to manage and significantly improve my dry eye and blepharitis conditions. Miss Saw is highly professional, extremely thorough, and communicated brilliantly throughout the whole process, so I felt confident every step of the way. During my initial consultation Miss Saw identified some complications with my left eye. She ensured further tests were carried out where required, to ensure the surgery would be a success. Miss Saw clearly explained: my diagnosis; all of my options; and provided excellent information regarding the surgery and aftercare. During the surgeries she explained what was happening, as a result I felt at ease during the operations. She is very patient and was willing to answer all my questions and is very personable and has great people skills. Miss Saw provided excellent aftercare and is supported by a great team who made sure I was looked after extremely well during the whole procedure. I now have a “new set of eyes” and can see clearly, and colours are bright, and details are sharp. I had considered blepharoplasty for some time due to hooded eyelids. I had always previously ruled out elective surgery but due to the ageing process (I’m 48) I decided to have consultations at two reputable clinics, Clinica London being one. I was drawn to Miss Olver over the other clinic because she instilled confidence and understood entirely my objective - which was to look natural. Miss Olver carefully explained the process to me and managed my expectations in terms of recovery. That enabled me to plan for the surgery knowing how long I’d basically need to work from home and go to ground for. I had the operation a few months after my first consultation. On the day of surgery, I had a consultation with Miss Olver and had chance to discuss any concerns and ask questions. The whole experience felt very calm and Miss Olver and all the nursing staff were caring and attentive. I felt very looked after despite my obvious nervousness about how I’d look and feel afterwards. The surgery itself took around one hour. I was awake and kept informed throughout. The worst part was the anaesthetic but even that wasn’t so bad. I felt no pain during the surgery. Afterwards I felt very numb and had difficulty fully closing my eyes for a couple of hours until the anaesthetic wore off. I rested in a room for an hour and was cared for until my friend arrived to take me home. My eyes felt sore and watery for the first couple of days and I’d definitely advise anyone having the surgery to not work for a couple of days afterwards to avoid eye strain. I also found wearing sunglasses indoors helped. I followed to the letter the after care pack provided to me however and was encouraged to go for a walk each day. The recovery went as advised with the bruising getting gradually worse and peaking at around day 6. I have fair skin and the bruising lasted for around 3 weeks but it improved a lot after around 11 days and was largely coverable with makeup. The bruising was also localised to the eye area meaning sunglasses covered everything and no one gave me a second look when I ventured outside or to the shops. Within a month all the residual bruising had gone and the swelling under and around the eyes had also subsided. I had only told two friends and both on seeing me a month post surgery said they would never have suspected I’d had eye surgery. Instead they said I looked like I’d had a “really good nights sleep” and skin smoothing treatment. Other friends and colleagues who’ve seen me and have no idea I had surgery have told me how incredibly well I look. I was dreading going back to the office but on doing so no one suspected a thing and asked if I’d been on holiday. I’d recommend Miss Olver without hesitation and am absolutely happy with the results of my surgery. I’ve had two consultations post surgery and 7 weeks on, know she is on hand should any issues arise.

I came to Moorfields for a 2nd opinion following an NHS appointment which felt far from satisfactory. I found Mr Petrushkin to be calm, reassuring, knowledgeable and clear, fully explaining the options open to me and enabling me to make an informed decision. Although it wasn’t easy for me to afford the surgery, I trusted Mr Petrushkin and felt confident about going forward and that I was in “safe hands”. I have had surgery on one eye and could not be more pleased or astonished at the impact. I can now see (too many!) cobwebs in my home, see the ball at Wimbledon and at the Euros, see what bus is coming, read the poems on the tube and see just how beautiful my Grandson is! Thank you Harry!
