Mrs. Maya Harris is a member of the Birmingham Prostate Clinic, which is a centre of urological excellence in the West Midlands.

She is available for remote consultations (telephone and video) during COVID-19 lockdown

Maya Harris studied at the Medical Academy of Latvia and University of Edinburgh, then worked and trained in hospitals in the north of England, including the renowned The Christie Hospital in Manchester, the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe. At The Christie, Maya undertook a fellowship (the highest form of specialist training) concentrating on urological cancers.

She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and at the European Urology Association, she won the Campbell Prize for her urological expertise. Maya also has a master's degree in translational medicine: the aim of applying laboratory research to clinical work with patients. Her work was focused on biomarkers to predict prostate cancer risk.

Many patients, both male and female, have felt comfortable discussing with her problems of a most intimate nature. She is one of very few fully qualified urologists who are female. She is particularly experienced in the assessment and treatment of complex bladder dysfunction, recurrent urinary infections, kidney and bladder stones, and diagnostic uro-oncology.

She is a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of England, a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, European Urology Association, and American Urological Association. She has broad academic and practical experience in all aspects of urology.

Her particular interests lie in bladder and prostate diseases and kidney stones. She has pioneered and performed most of the minimally-invasive prostate treatments, both Urolift and Rezum, in West Midlands. She is also experienced in laser prostatectomy.
