
I started my journey with Virginia Ziulu in June, after two terrible years spent battling depression and binge eating — something I’ve struggled with all my life and no longer knew how to handle. I was eating healthy food, but far too much, and I kept gaining weight. I was desperate. I had no energy — neither physical nor mental — and I thought it was all due to failures in my personal life and to perimenopause (I’m 49). I had recently been diagnosed with type 2 lipedema (from waist to knees, stage two): my legs were painful, and I was dealing with countless other symptoms.
When I started working with Virginia, it was the first time anyone had ever suggested a low-histamine approach — and it felt like a light had been switched on.
Only then did I remember that, as a child, during allergy testing for asthma, histamine had shown up as one of my strongest reactants, but no one had ever paid attention to it from a nutritional point of view. Rediscovering that connection and working on it was truly a turning point.
Within a week, I felt a huge difference — as if something deep inside me had finally calmed down.
Alongside the new nutritional guidelines, I also started manual lymphatic drainage once a week. After just two weeks, my family already noticed that I looked less swollen. Virginia also helped me manage PMS, recommending a supplement that immediately eased my symptoms (and I had already tried so many!).
Over the summer, my binge eating episodes became much less frequent, and both my energy and mood began to improve steadily.
By September, when I went back to work, friends and colleagues who hadn’t seen me for a few months told me I looked amazing — and I feel the same way. I hardly recognise myself: full of energy, with a stable mood, good sleep, mental clarity, and a sense of peace I hadn’t felt in years.
I even rediscovered my passion for my job — something I had seriously considered giving up last year because I could no longer find motivation or cope with its demands.
I’ve also regained the desire to exercise: now I go to the gym and aqua-fitness with enthusiasm, and I do metabolic circuits at home on busy days. My body is changing — I’ve gone from nearly 100 kg to 95 — but more than the number on the scale, I notice the physical transformation and strength I’m gaining.
The pain from lipedema has disappeared, thanks to the anti-inflammatory diet and the supplements Virginia suggested, along with lymphatic drainage and compression wear.
The diet has become a natural part of my life. I continue to follow the low-histamine guidelines, adjusting them to the colder season, and even with the occasional treat or dinner out, I finally feel in balance.
Even my home is always tidy now — something I used to struggle with — as if something in my mind has finally realigned.
In short, thanks to this journey, I feel reborn: more aware, more serene, and stronger.
Virginia has guided me with competence and empathy through a transformation that goes far beyond nutrition — a true journey of reconnection with my body and my well-being.
