It was a very scary time for me and my husband but from the moment we met Dr Vaqas we felt reassured. He always explained everything so clearly and calmly and never made us feel rushed, answering all our many questions! We had every faith in him and knew we were in good hands! We would like to thank him for all he has done.

After a warning from the neurosurgeon & oncologist who had been monitoring the regrowth of my meningioma in September 2023 that it required surgery & as it was a second operation it was at high risk of stroke, bleeding, bone infection, going through old scar tissue, the tumour was pressing against a large vein. My daughter suggested I sought a second opinion, we chose Mr Shoakazemi who also specialises in my type of brain tumour.  He confirmed…the risks were very high indeed, the brain tumour had grown too big for fractionated radiotherapy and surgery through the old wound of some 20 + years ago was the only option. We found Mr Shoakazemi to be extremely approachable, professional, calm, warm & informative.  I feel incredibly lucky to have had the faith on a date said to be the unluckiest day in the yearly calendar …Friday 13th October to undergo surgery with such a gifted neurosurgeon. I am (thankfully to Mr Shoakazemi) walking straight, talking straight & feeling fully blessed.

Without my Dr during my journey it would have been worrying and stressful SH has been amazing. The team she runs at the Royal Marsden you can see provides the support and comfort she put in to her health delivery. I am a very lucky person

Dr Vinayan covered all relevant points, including the various options that might be offered, and the reasons why gamma knife treatment was the preferred choice. He answered all of our questions and gave me confidence in the team and the process.

He was warm, informative, supportive and caring. I have great confidence in him. He and Vas gave my family and I so much information and offered 24 hr contact to them should we have any concerns. Delightful men, both of them.
