Mr Aftab has the special and rare ability to treat you like a human, not just a patient, and that means the world to me. I feel immensely lucky to have found Mr Aftab. You can google any doctor, and if you search Mr Aftab’s accolades, it is obvious that he is one of the best orthopaedic surgeons not just in the UK, but in the world. I don’t have to specify that he is a master of his craft, it is all available online. But what those qualifications and articles don’t tell you is how compassionate he is, how much he cares for each and every case he reviews and treats, and how deeply it matters to him that the patient walks out with the best possible care they could’ve received. I have been under the care of Mr Aftab for over a year now, he has treated me with 3 nerve root injections. I am now just recovering and soon will have surgery (Microdiscectomy) performed by him. This is a decision we have made together, and not something I have been forced with or been made to decide by myself. Before any and every procedure, however big or small, Mr Aftab educates me on the benefits and risks and never pushes for an outcome. He truly believes that it is the patient that can make the best choices for themselves and gives me all of information and help I need so I can get the best outcome, whether it is pain management or surgery or just a consultation. Recently, while sorting out my insurance, I was briefly matched with another surgeon, who refused to accept my sudden rise pain concerns, and flat out refused to sign off on an MRI that I thought I needed, I was made to feel like I was at fault for being in so much pain even seeking that surgeon’s opinion. Thankfully, shortly afterwards my insurance was sorted and I immediately contacted Mr Aftab again. Even though he sees dozens of patients each week, he distinctly remembered the exact timeline and details of my case, and just based off my email, promptly signed off on an MRI without me even having to plead for one. It turned out that my condition had Infact progressed and the MRI made it clear that surgery was now an option I needed to consider seriously. Had I not received this care and that too so fast, I would’ve had to endure much more pain. He also offered me an epidural injection the very next day to try and alleviate the pain until my case is reviewed and approved for surgery, which I am confident will go well. I am an otherwise healthy athlete who has suffered an unfortunate accident that has led to a chronic condition. It is not just that I am in debilitating pain, but it is my mental health that has suffered so much, and also affects my partner too who is caring for me. So more than anything, it matters to me that Mr Aftab cares so much, answers all of my questions, and makes me aware of all possible treatment options. He truly treated me with respect and love, and showed me so much compassion. I am truly grateful for the treatment I have received. On a personal note, Mr Aftab is always positive, he is full of energy and really loves what he does - it fills me with confidence that I am in the best of hands under his care. I feel safe and comforted, there’s literally nothing more I can ask from a surgeon.

Mr Akula put me at ease from my first consultation, he explained everything clearly and put my mind at rest. Having never been in hospital in all my 77 years I was understandably a bit jittery but I have to say the whole experience was so smooth I really didn’t have to worry. I could not recommend Mr Mokawem enough after the treatment and care he has given me for my scoliosis. Every appointment we had, we are always approached with a reassuring and calm manner, and feeling fully informed on our possible options. We were meant to go ahead with surgery, yet after the Multi-Disciplinary Meeting took place, we were told that in my current position, they should not operate until further investigation had taken place. This just shows how incredible this team is, willing to postpone the surgery as something was not quite adding up. However, after thorough investigation, the surgery went ahead. He always left me choice throughout this process, listing all of the benefits and drawbacks of each stage. I was operated on at the RNOH, and almost every day, Mr Mokawem would come and see me. On around day 3, he came in and asked me if I wanted to stand and go for a short walk. I didn’t as this was one of the days I felt the most sore, but after some time chatting with him, he reassured me and supported me to push myself. I could not be more grateful for Mr Mokawem and his team’s care, and would highly recommend him to anyone! He has been hugely reassuring both to me and my parents.

Basically, in two appointments Mr Ramsey was absolutely exceptional understanding my situation / needs and frustrations where he kindly provided me a few options in order to find the best route for me. He was not rushing, taking time to explain every single step as well as the analysis on the MRI - very useful. In short words, extremely happy with his approach and knowledge. Well done!

Fantastic from start to finish total professional took my operation on where so many surgeons did not my case was 1 in a million spinal arachnoid web of the spinal cord I am 6 weeks post operation and doing well mr Sadek is easy to talk to very kind and caring man a master of his craft top surgeon top man thank you and your staff so much
