Professor Zoe Winters has been an absolute lifesaver (and for once I use this term without hyperbole) in treating my sister who was diagnosed with early stage young onset breast cancer. We found Prof Winters after facing difficulty in getting timely treatment through the NHS, and knew from the first meeting that our care was in the hands of a real expert - someone not just capable and competent but someone with great compassion and kindness too. In our circumstances we were self-paying and Prof Winters always kept mindful of that fact, helping to minimise our expenditure without compromising on the standard of care that she provided. Her wonderful practice manager Jenny Hoyle was absolutely outstanding in supporting our transition post-surgery back into NHS care. I could not recommend Prof Winters highly enough, she is exceptional in every regard and a true superstar for the people she has helped.

Following a routine mammogram which showed a density in my right breast, I was referred for a ultrasound. My insurance company put me in touch with " The Check For Cancer" Services who made an appointment for me to see Mr Kasem privately at the Shard. From the moment I met him I felt I was in good hands. He checked my breast for any lumps and sent me for an ultrasound and reassuring me that I would be OK. The Ultrasound picked up a small lump which following a biopsy confirmed it was cancer. When I heard the C word, I felt as if the ceiling had collapsed on me. Nobody in my family had ever been diagnosed with cancer and somehow I never thought I would get it, I thought I was safe, but I wasn't. I felt my whole world had been turned upside down, I felt a bit in denial or in a dream waiting to wake up from. Mr Kasem was so easy to talk to, he explained to me that the lump had ben caught very early and it was 100% treatable and curable. He told me that I was unlucky to have a lump but very lucky they found it, and in my case I was also very lucky to have a good medical care because it was during the ultrasound that the lump was picked up not during the mammogram. He acted so quickly, sending me for an urgent MRI and getting all the necessary examinations done promptly. I have always felt I was in the best hands from the first day I met him. I had to have two procedures to get rid of the cancer completely. It wasn't an easy journey but I was in the best possible care. Mr Kasem is an excellent surgeon who really cares about his patients. He always made time to speak to me and answer any questions I had. Mr Kasem always reassured me during the whole process and was very good at explaining to me what was going to happen. I am very grateful to Mr Kasem, the radiographer, his team of nurses and secretary – all very helpful, professional and committed - and I have no hesitation in recommending him to other patients. Thank you so much for looking after me so well, I am very lucky to have been your patient.
