Basically, in two appointments Mr Ramsey was absolutely exceptional understanding my situation / needs and frustrations where he kindly provided me a few options in order to find the best route for me. I was very nervous about having an operation on my spine but Mr. Prezerakos's thorough explanation of my medical situation and how the operation would be conducted gave me the confidence to go ahead with the procedure. He didn't deny that there could be complications but his clear explanation helped me to realise that these were manageable risks and that the benefits outweighed the relatively minor chances of something not going to plan. The outcome has been incredible, whereas before the operation I could only walk a short distance without needing to rest because of the pain around my hips and thighs, I now have no pain whatsoever when walking and only minor discomfort around the incision wound, its just over 4 weeks since I had the operation and I'm confident that even that small discomfort will soon be a distant memory.

Absolutely amazing Doctor and surgeon, made my daughter feel so at ease and no question was silly. I had a concern which was address so efficiently after surgery and I was reassured everything was normal and a follow up appointment was made sooner than planned to check up on the healing which went beautifully. Mr Akula put me at ease from my first consultation, he explained everything clearly and put my mind at rest. Having never been in hospital in all my 77 years I was understandably a bit jittery but I have to say the whole experience was so smooth I really didn’t have to worry. Mr Akula is a true gentle-man and an amazing surgeon and I thank him from the bottom of my heart (and spine) x

I could not recommend Mr Mokawem enough after the treatment and care he has given me for my scoliosis. Every appointment we had, we are always approached with a reassuring and calm manner, and feeling fully informed on our possible options. We were meant to go ahead with surgery, yet after the Multi-Disciplinary Meeting took place, we were told that in my current position, they should not operate until further investigation had taken place. This just shows how incredible this team is, willing to postpone the surgery as something was not quite adding up. However, after thorough investigation, the surgery went ahead. He always left me choice throughout this process, listing all of the benefits and drawbacks of each stage. I was operated on at the RNOH, and almost every day, Mr Mokawem would come and see me. On around day 3, he came in and asked me if I wanted to stand and go for a short walk. I didn’t as this was one of the days I felt the most sore, but after some time chatting with him, he reassured me and supported me to push myself. I could not be more grateful for Mr Mokawem and his team’s care, and would highly recommend him to anyone! He has been hugely reassuring both to me and my parents.
