I carried out a lot of research to find a surgeon whom I felt I could trust to carry out hand surgery for a Dupuytren's contracture. Mrs Moon was the surgeon who met my requirements. I was very apprehensive about undergoing hand surgery and was put completely at my ease when I met Mrs Moon for the first time. She explained what to expect from the surgery and how she would perform it. Mrs Moon's professional manner and her obvious expertise in this area of specialised surgery gave me confidence to proceed with the surgery. The surgery was amazing; at the end of the operation, prior to dressing my hand, Mrs Moon showed me what she had done. The area operated on was exactly how Mrs Moon had explained it pre-surgery and the sutures were minute. I experienced no pain whatsoever following the surgery, which was incredible. I carried out all the instructions I was given with regard to the dressing and initial limitations on movement. Post surgery Mrs Moon has continued to review my progress at regular intervals and has recently treated tendonitis which occurred. Hand therapy post surgery was most important in my recovery. The exercises I was given have enabled me to have full extension of my fingers again; the first time in many years! Looking at my hand now, four and a half months after the operation, it is hard to see where the surgery has been performed. I will be forever grateful to Mrs Moon for her considerable surgical expertise and her wonderful manner for putting me at ease.
