Overall my experience with HCA was ok - especially the care side which was friendly and effective, but the admin side was less efficient, particularly in terms of clarity in pricing and payment processes which seemed complex and uncoordinated.

POHP were recommended to me, and it was easy to arrange my first post-op appointment - along with clear pre-op guidance on equipment and physio exercises provided in app form, so I felt well prepared for the surgery. Post-op, my physio journey was clearly mapped across a number of weeks, and throughout I felt confident that POHP were working in tandem with my consultant's clinical team, and the insurance company, to make the whole process straightforward.

HCA ancillary staff were excellent and friendly, putting me at ease. The one exception is that despite being fully covered by private medical insurance (incl pre-authorisation codes and competing multiple online forms and confirming details) the HCA administrative/ reception staff on arrival were overly focused on (and their primary priority is to) obtain credit card details and associated authorisation for extra procedures and tests which go beyond the scope of the referral and pre-authorisation in case suggested. The requested authorisation is open-ended and requested at a point when patients are vulnerable. The HCA admin staff were unable to explain why authorisation was required in my circumstances with full insurance coverage - all they could manage was a weak “it’s just our process”.
