Overall a good experience, especially from the consultant and his team in the theatre. The nursing staff were friendly. However I didn’t feel confident with the first nurse who as it turned out was unable to get a canula in my arm, and had to ask another to do it instead. Also the food was very average and cold by the time I arrived back at the room. However the main reason for going private is the clinical care being quick.

Everyone was so warm, kind and friendly. It was a great experience.

Excellent Consultation with Dr Spalding- answered all my questions!!

Room was basic with no heating. Food was poor and interactions with staff was difficult, as staff rotated by the minute, with each asking the same question but not not acting when asked. Consultant Dr Masons Hussein was outstanding Shall avoid returning- not what you expect from Privately funded care

Excellent care in every respect

The private room on friday was cold & after the cancellation of my procedure 8 hrs later i returned on Monday To worst Experience of a absolute freezing room I had i lay oin bed with my hat scarf & coat to try & stay warm I was informed the heating was broken a radiator was provided some 6 hrs later THe nursing Care was excellent but i do not recommend the private rooms if i was paying Personally not the insurance co would ask for a refund ?

Staff always friendly and helpful

I felt things were very disjointed. Daytime nurses were great and very helpful they’d top my water up and check I was comfortable however, the night staff wasn’t great with checking my comfort or pain relief, they were doing blood pressure etc checks but not asking how i felt or how my pain was, I asked for pain relief and was questioned where my pain was - I’d had a hysteractomy so clearly in pain, I was eventually given pain relief namely paracetamol at around 4am and hadn’t had anything since early evening after surgery. I paid private and my expectations of more hands on care during the night was not fulfilled at all. I should not have been in a position where I had to ask a few times for pain relief at night. I ordered a meal for the first evening to then be told I would be on a clear liquid diet for a few days. I ordered soup for my last meal as surgeon said clear/soft foods for a few days to then be told by a nurse I need a meal to gain my strength back so when I say disjointed it didn’t seem all staff were singing off the same hymn sheet and this left me confused in that do I listen to surgeon or a nurse. I’m Still on soft foods and choose to take surgeons advice. Given I paid privately, the only perk I felt with this was my own room. I didn’t sleep much because my door was kept opened at all times and I was opposite the main desk so it was very noisy even during early hours. My husband was told to ask for a hot drink if he wanted one and he had to then remind each time upon which he was brought tea not coffee so it had to be changed. He waited two hours for his cup of coffee. I actually couldn’t wait to leave as didn’t feel I had the level of care at night that I paid for overall. Surgeon was a very lovely man and I was very pleased with him and also the anaesthetist was great.

Lovely staff as always. And Prof Fotopoulou is incredible.

The Sainsbury Wing is a calm and peaceful place with pleasing, though non-luxurious decor. The staff on reception are not knowledgeable enough,and could be more gracious and reassuring towards patients. They should be reminded that people are there because they are worried and unwell,and paying a lot of money through desperation and failing NHS.
