About The Capsule Clinic
The Capsule clinic was started by Dr Simon Campbell, an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist. Among the team at the Capsule clinic are specialist nurse Joanne Hodgins of which Dr. Campbell has worked with for the last 14 years, and practice manager Sarah Campbell who has worked in the private sector for 14 years with Gastromedicalsolutions LLP and has extensive knowledge of endoscopy procedures and medical insurance related concerns.
The clinic provides capsule endoscopy, which consists of a small pill-sized camera that the patient swallows to assess the gastrointestinal tract. The camera then is able to send the images to a small recording device worn on the body. The information provided by the capsule camera helps in the diagnosis of of many diseases and abnormalities in the gastrointestinal tract, such as Barrett's oesophagus, Gastric Cancer, Gastro-oesophageal reflux (GORD), Stomach and Duodenal Ulcers, Crohn's Disease, Colon Cancer and Colonic Polyps. This method eliminates the need for intubation, sedation and radiation, as well as their associated risks.
There are three capsule procedures offered at the Capsule clinic, for conditions of the upper GI tract, Small Bowel and Colon. In addition to capsule endoscopy, the team at the Capsule clinic offer other non-invasive testing, including faecal calprotectin, qFIT10 faecal testing, coeliac antibody (TTG) testing and cytosponge testing.
The team of highly professional specialists can provide comprehensive care and advice to each patient. They all have a wealth of experience and knowledge of endoscopy procedures, medical insurance and exceptional patient care. The Capsule clinic is based at Hope Cottage, 5 Macclesfield Road, Prestbury, Macclesfield, Cheshire.
