I received excellent care. Fertility treatment is a challenging and emotional time, especially when faced with repeated loss and disappointment. We were finally successful with the Lister.

Very person I came into contact with at the Lister Fertility clinic was wonderful. The care, expertise and even humour (as let’s be honest, this is an emotional time, and sharing a laugh with someone always helps) was superb. I felt really looked after and knew I was in the best hands for fertility treatment. Thank you for making my fertility journey the best it could be.

We had a positive experience and were lucky that our IVF treatment worked first time at the Lister. We would recommend the clinic to others for their thorough investigations and professional expertise. We did not feel that staff were overly warm and sensitive though, which was a shame as it is a difficult process to undergo for couples.

My experience at the Lister Clinic has been hot and cold. Either I have received excellent, attentive care, or been shuffled quickly through with little explanation. I have had to find things out about my particular treatment piece-meal as I go, which is incredibly frustrating. At the same time, when its important - the doctors and nurses come through! The staff are what make this place amazing. My experience with the doctors one on one has been amazing. The pre-set appointments and on the day of surgery – being treated with care and confidence. Likewise with most of the nurses, who are kind and caring - although some are a bit inflexible sometimes which can be so frustrating with something so emotional as fertility. My first experience with one of the nurses was so rushed and quick, sign papers and next! I left not knowing what to do with my fertility drugs (and cried in frustration that night). This turned out to be a one-off experience and most of the nurses (as long as they have time) are kind and make sure questions are answered. Patient guidance: I would strongly suggest that they have 'project managers' - one person assigned to a patient for the entirety of treatment that can act as a resource for queries and for planning for items like 'hey let’s get these blood tests/sperm to clinic/scans done in advance so that doesn't hold you up for another few weeks' or ‘let’s make sure all your scans are done my the same nurse if possible’ or as a resource on what is important when picking a donor or who to go to have genetic test results reviewed or explain why to pick a CMV+ donor? This person would free up valuable doctor and nurse time as well, as these queries go to them at the moment. You are also given/sent a mountain of paperwork that would scare off even the biggest bookworm. Again the ‘project manager’ would help short cut what is important for you. Patient records: I would also strongly suggest that they update their systems and have an easy way to have a patient's info in one place. I would have been sent for the one particular blood test three times (and charged for it) if I didn't know I'd had it in November bc it wasn't easily found in my record for the nurses - and not updated when found. Billing: Firstly, make it so we, the patient, can log in and see the invoice and pay for it online. Also, make it so the patient can log in and see all the things they’ve been charged for and when. It would also make things like finding when you had a blood test done (and charged for) more easy! This is not available right now and there’s been more than once when I’ve been presented with an invoice and I have had to point out I already made a payment for that on this date. Transparency is urgently needed on the billing! Overall I think if the Lister brings in a few more staff to help out patients on the front end (billing, personal resource) and gets the systems into a better state – they’ll have a beyond world class facility. The doctors and nurses there do truly care and are on the journey with you, and that’s incredible; and you can tell they have the skills and experience which gives such comfort and confidence.
