Alex is an outstanding physiotherapist. Originally from Belgium, I currently live in London. After undergoing shoulder surgery in Brussels, I had to immediately travel to London for my studies. Alex managed my entire rehabilitation process with exceptional skill. Thanks to his efforts, my shoulder has completely healed, allowing me to even go skiing! Throughout the rehabilitation, Alex closely monitored my progress, customising each session to meet my specific needs. He went above and beyond by taking the time to communicate with my doctors in Belgium, ensuring a cohesive recovery plan. Moreover, Alex always made sure to explain each part of the process to me, making physiotherapy not only beneficial but also enjoyable. I strongly recommend Alex; my experience with him was nothing short of great. Thank you, Alex, for everything!

I came to see Alex as I wanted to improve my running efficiency but also to prevent any future injuries. Alex did a thorough running assessment and flagged out the mistakes in my running technique. We decided to move forward with a running coaching programme that lasted 6 weeks and I am pleased to say that I did my fastest ever ultra marathon thanks to him. I would highly recommend working with Alex to achieve your running goals.

Alex was very clear when he received me on two occasions, he explained that self personal effort is required to recover and not merely treat. The exercises he taught me are most valuable and shared with my physiotherapist in Madagascar, where I currently work. I shall certainly request an appointment with Alex when I return home to London in the next few months. I highly recommend him for at least for hand and lumbar spine injuries which he received me for and I am more than confident that Alex is well experienced in other areas of injury.

I am a professional athlete in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I learned through time to compensate with pain and injuries in my shoulder. I came to see Alex and his background in Judo and sports definitely made the difference to understand my needs and goals. He was able to effectively diagnose my shoulder blade dysfunction and helped me overcome my injury. I am back to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu pain free thanks to him.

Excellent. Swiftly diagnosed and fixed the problem. He cured my knee injury after just one session, combined with exercises that he gave me to strengthen other muscles around the injured area. He also gave me very effective advice on how to move differently to eliminate the pain. He has a very good understanding of human physiology. I was able to run 5 miles regularly again within a month. No recurrence of the knee pain! It was particularly encouraging because I am quite old and hadn’t expected to be fully cured at all, let alone so quickly.

The pain in my back was so unbearable to a point that I was afraid I will never get pain free again. My healing started straight after the first session. Alex was confident he will help me with my pain and what he did with his hands on treatment was amazing. He is really professional but his sessions were far from boring. Highly knowledgeable and friendly.

Alex has been an excellent physio after my ACL surgery. ACL recovery is a long and painful process. His support during these 9 months was all I needed. He created a personalised exercise protocol that I followed by the letter and now I am able to ski again. The best!

Alex is someone who takes pride and joy of his work. You can tell that he really cares and he is a good listener. In addition to providing great exercise prescription and hands on treatment, Alex educates through the sessions. I saw him for a rotator cuff tendinopathy and he has played a big role in my return to sports.

A few months ago I had an MRI scan and was diagnosed with L4-L5 disc pathology in my lower back. Both my spine specialist and physio at the time recommended to have an operation if I ever want to get back to running and my hobbies. I was skeptical but also in pain and after talking to a colleague of mine who had a similar problem, he recommended to go and see Alex for a second opinion. What Alex did was a game changer. He identified the root cause and focused on myself as an individual rather than the MRI. It was a completely different experience. As a result I managed to avoid the operation and most importantly i live a pain free life.

I first met Alex for a knee problem that was initially dismissed by NHS care in spite of persistent pain on walking. I was impressed by his attention to detail, thorough examination and impeccable bedside manners that allayed my initial reservations to a second opinion. He tailored a personalised exercise regime for strength training and my eventual cure. I have chosen to continue personalised physio-pilates with Alex. Each class is customised to my condition on that day, and I especially appreciate how easy conversations on anything and everything help to pass the targeted workout session. I am grateful to Alex Barmpas for helping my recovery and his mentorship in my physical wellbeing. I would recommend his care to anyone without hesitation!
