Joseph de Bono was an undergradtuate in Cambridge and then Oxford. He did specialsit training in cardiology In Norwich Cambridge before undertaking research leading to a PhD in the cardiovsascular consequences of exercise. He was awarded the British Heart Rhythm Society Young investigator award. He was a lecturere at St Hugh's College Oxford. He then completed training in electrophysiology in Oxford before undetaking a Fellowship at the Heart Hospital in London.
He was elected to the council of the British Heart Rhythm Society in 2018 and was an examiner for the British Heart Rhythm society. He has previously been a programme committe member for the British Cardiac Society.
Outside work he enjoys rugby (he used to be a qualified rugby referee), sailing and spending time with his family.
