About Mr Himanshu Wadhawan

Mr Himanshu Wadhawan graduated from the University of Mumbai in 2000 before moving to the UK, where he completed basic surgical training in South Yorkshire and higher surgical training in the West of Scotland. He was awarded an MPhil from the University of Sheffield for his research on pelvic floor disorders and went on to undertake a post-CCT fellowship in oesophagogastric (cancer) surgery at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

In 2020, Mr Wadhawan was appointed Consultant in Upper GI and General Surgery at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert. Alongside his clinical practice, he is actively involved in education and training. He is a Foundation Programme Director, Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, Hospital Sub-Dean at the University of Edinburgh, and an Examiner for the Intercollegiate MRCS.

Mr Wadhawan has a special interest in diseases of the oesophagus, stomach, and gallbladder. He is particularly skilled in minimally invasive surgical techniques and is committed to delivering the highest standards of evidence-based care. He is an active member of the West of Scotland Cancer Network and regularly attends national and international meetings to stay at the forefront of surgical innovation.

Beyond his clinical and teaching commitments, Mr Wadhawan plays a key role in professional organisations. He served as the West of Scotland representative for the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) and is a Director of Strategy and Trustee for The Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society (TUGSS).

He is also a principal investigator on several research projects and has published extensively in major surgical journals, with presentations at national and international meetings.

I had a very positive experience under the care of Mr Wadwahan. At my initial consultation he took the time to explain everything I needed to know. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and put me at ease. Following surgery he visited to provide an update on how everything had gone and later saw me again at a follow up appointment. He made everything easy to understand and has a relaxed, friendly manner
