Dr John Martin is a Consultant Gastroenterlogist at Imperial Healthcare Trust.
John qualified from Cambridge University and King's College Hospital in 1990 and trained in gastroenterolgy within Northwest Thames. He was appointed as a consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2002 before moving to Charing Cross Hospital in 2006.
John has a vast experience in all aspects of gastroenterology including investigation and management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
John has a specialist interest in Bowel Cancer Screening, the subject of his MD awarded by the University of London in 2002. He is Director of the West London Bowel Cancer Screening Centre and the National Advisor to Public Health England for endoscopy witin the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
John is an expert colonosocpist, performing high quality, safe, comfortable procedures and is accredited to perform colonoscopy within the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. He provides extensive training to junior doctors within his NHS practice, teaches colonoscopy on National Training Courses and is an examiner for colonoscopy acceditation within the Bowel Cancer Screening programme.

Dr John Martin was condescending and dismissive, and did not put me at ease. That notwithstanding, his explanation and consideration of my diagnosis was clear and understandable, despite being delivered poorly.

Dr John is an excellent doctor with extreme patience and professionalism. He was so fantastic at explaining both the procedures and treatment for bowel cancer that I grasped exactly what it entails. He was so kind and made me feel genuinely comfortable. He even discussed treatment which gave me a sense of relief should the worse happen. He sure took away my paranoia about having cancer. This was a zoom consultation and it was a first appointment with Dr Martin. I had emailed copies of hospital notes and CT results. The consultation was clear, efficient and the treatment seems to be effective. I shall not hesitate to consult Dr Martin again. Thank you.
