Miss Cecilia Bottomley

Miss Bottomley sees and treats women with general gynaecology disorders including
ovarian cysts, fibroids, menstrual and menopausal problems. Additionally, she offers an expert opinion on early pregnancy concerns. As a scan-based gynaecologist, ultrasound forms a major part of diagnosis. Cecilia carries out gynaecological surgery at The Portland Hospital.

Miss Cecilia Bottomley trained as a doctor at Cambridge University, qualifying in 1994, before pursuing her gynaecology career in London.

In her NHS practice as a Consultant Gynaecologist she works with Professor Jurkovic at
University College London Hospitals (UCLH) within the highly respected Gynaecology Diagnostic and Treatment Unit, which has an international reputation. Prior to this she was a consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for 9 years.

Miss Bottomley developed her skills through a research MD focusing on ultrasound scan and the prediction of pregnancy loss. She has subsequently supervised research theses in relation to other early pregnancy conditions. With over 40 academic publications she maintains an active research interest across the field of gynaecology and ultrasound. Cecilia has also published two undergraduate textbooks.

Miss Bottomley is a Medical Advisor for the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and was previously Scientific Chair for the Association of Early Pregnancy Units. She gives regular invited lectures on gynaecology for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and other national and international organisations.
