Following a left femur fracture in Jan 2021 I was fitted with an intramedullary (IM) pin. This provided effective fracture repair however continued progression of underlying osteoarthritis required hip replacement surgery in both hips. As left hip replacement required prior removal of the IM pin this required either combined IM pin removal and hip replacement or separate IM pin removal and hip replacement. Despite the additional complication, longer operation time and longer recovery time of the combined surgery this was my preference. I was therefore very pleased that following a consultation with Mr Kim in October 2023 he suggested this approach and offered to perform this combined surgery. This was successfully carried out in November 2023, and, good recovery from the combined operation enabled Mr Kim to carry out replacement of the right hip in mid February 2024. This operation was also successful and was also followed by good recovery and return to pre-surgical activities within three months. In addition, thanks to the excellent surgical skills of Mr Kim, his surgical team and the nursing and physiotherapy staff at the Spire Hospital these operations have provided me with two well functioning hips and have effectively resolved the pain, discomfort and activity limitations associated with prior hip osteoarthritis.'

Mr Kim came across as a very caring person and understood immediately the pain I was experiencing due to the bone on bone condition of my right hip. I had decided I wanted to have the robotic arm surgery and the best person to do the operation would be Mr Kim. He thoroughly explained the robotic arm assistance and the millimetre precision of the implant. Having initially been quite nervous of a major operation, after the consultation I was more than happy to proceed with it. Immediately after the operation Mr Kim phoned my Husband to let him know the operation had been a complete success.

Mr Kim is a delightful person and a complete professional. I had a robotic assisted total right hip replacement six months ago and am now free of pain and able to lead a normal life again after two years of pain. He explained in great detail what the operation entailed and I felt totally at ease in his capable hands

I underwent a total hip replacement performed by Mr Kim and his team just over nine weeks ago. Prior to my procedure, I was barely able to walk, other than short distances and required the assistance of two crutches. I was also in pain. When I approached Mr Kim regarding a hip replacement, he explained the possibilities to me and an initial X-ray was taken, which we were both able to view there and then. I underwent a total hip replacement with robotic arm assistance and each part of the process was explained carefully to me by Mr Kim. I was also encouraged to ask any questions. The operation went well and my care team were excellent. Mr Kim even phoned my husband personally immediately afterwards to let him know how things had gone. I returned home just two days later and have made steady progress. I am now walking nearly 10,000 steps on a regular basis and able to do many things that I was unable to do before. It is great to be free from arthritic pain in my right hip. I may need my left hip replacing in the next few years and will definitely be returning to Mr Kim and his team. Louise

I only have very positive comments to make about Mr Kim prior to and after my hip operation. I felt a sense of comfort with his attention to detail and his professionalism. This was my very first operation and i felt as ease throughout. The after care team and the physio team have also been first class. I will recommend colleagues and friends in the future. A resounding well done to you all.
