In 2005, Dr Chhaya completed his training at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London School of Medicine, University of London, earning a first-class honors degree in Biomedical Engineering. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2009 after completing his general medical training and began specializing in Gastroenterology in the South Thames region.
Dr Chhaya has extensive expertise in various gastrointestinal disorders and advanced endoscopy techniques. He played a significant role in enhancing the IBD and cancer services at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust and supervises medical education prior to moving to the Royal Marsden Hospital and Epsom and St Helier. He currently serves as the lead for GI cancer at his NHS hospital. He is fully accredited to perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, as well as advanced endoscopy such as oesophageal and enteral stenting, ERCP and biliary stenting, EUS and biopsy, and polyp removal. His clinical interests include dyspepsia and reflux, IBS and bowel habit alterations, Crohn's and colitis, GI cancers, pancreatic and liver disorders.
Dr Chhaya worked at some of London's most prestigious institutions, including St Bartholomew's Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, and The Royal Marsden Hospital. He pursued a higher degree at St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London, and was awarded an MD in 2016. He has published several articles in international peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals and remains actively involved in research and conference proceedings.

He was very kind and considerate and reassuring. He explained my results and took the time to explain anything I was unclear on. He discussed next steps and suggested further treatment I could pursue if I still felt concerned.
Dr Chhaya was polite and welcoming. We went through my symptoms and medical history thoroughly and discussed my concerns. He recommended a CT scan as the best option moving forward. I felt reassured and was impressed with his expertise and pleasant manner.
I underwent a colonoscopy and gastroscopy by Dr Chhaya recently and the whole process, apart from the ghastly prep solution (!), was very painless and carried out in a friendly, yet professional, manner. Everything was explained clearly and the results communicated to me as swiftly as possible.
There was an issue with my appointment booking but Dr Chhaya fitted me in which was most helpful.
Dr Chhaya was very reassuring, listened carefully to my issues, and gave clear guidance and suggested a plan for the next steps.
