I am writing to you to express my gratitude and appreciation in relation to the excellent care that I received from all of the staff at St Bartholomew’s Hospital when I was admitted on 23rd August 2023 to Ward 4c, 4th Floor KGV Building for a pleurodesis and a biopsy of my right lung. I cannot praise your staff enough for the excellent clinical care, kindness, skill, efficiency, and thoughtfulness. My pre-operation assessment on 21st August 2023 was excellent with particular thanks to nurses Nada, Sandra and Maria and Claire the radiographer who made me feel confident about the forthcoming procedure and were so kind to me. Ms Henrietta Wilson and her team were superb. They were re-assuring, compassionate, efficient and extremely skilful. The nurses and nursing assistants were also excellent, particularly Dave, Nikita, Mary, Mona, Maureen, Eleonor and Walter. Thank- you so much for making my first experience of being an inpatient one that I won’t forget due to the consideration and kindness shown to me. Please extend my appreciation to all of your staff. You must be very proud of having such excellent clinical teams.

Arrived on 6th floor went to reception next to lifts thinking I had reached the correct place, at that point I was a little frustrated as the person behind the reception in green slops just ignored me until I interrupted whatever game he was playing in his mobile phone to as how I checked in. He explained to wait and someone would collect me, after some 15 minutes I asked again who would be collecting me an was this in fact the correct reception I was at, obviously it wasn't so I went to look myself and eventually got someone to let me through the security door and found 6D reception. From there all went well but it was a bad start.

Excellent care for my double bypass

The hospital was clean and the nurses very friendly.

Upon admission the shower room en suite to my room and in particular the toilet needed cleaning. This was carried out within 2 hours. ICU & HDU amazing but assistance to progress once back on the ward seemed slightly lacking. That said you have mostly wonderful nursing staff who I mentioned individually on the form I was asked to complete before leaving the hospital

Very clean and efficient staff were very friendly. On one occasion I was asked to undress in the room in front of everyone (not sure if that was because there was no changing room available?) and on another visit I was asked to undress down to the waist and leave my trousers on - my treatment was on my leg and I had to point that out. Not a problem (made me smile) and I believe the member of staff was a student. Overall they were very friendly, the treatment was completed without delay and I would happily return to Bart’s for future treatment if needed.

The medical, nursing and support care I received at the pre- operational assessment , during and post operation until discharge was excellent. I was kept informed of what was happening and all the staff I dealt with were very supportive,empathetic and friendly
