Dr Alastair Santhouse is a Consultant Psychiatrist working in London. He has a particular interest in the interaction between physical and mental health, seeing referrals from a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. As well as expertise in medically unexplained physical symptoms, mental health consequences of physical illness, he also extensive experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety and other types of mood disorders.

After graduating in Medicine from the University of Cambridge, he completed his training in hospital medicine and became a member (and later fellow) of the Royal College of Physicians. Following this, he undertook specialised training in psychiatry at Maudsley Hospital and was appointed as a consultant in psychological medicine in 2003.

Dr Santhouse has served as President of the Psychiatry Council at The Royal Society of Medicine, and Vice Chair of the Liaison Faculty Executive at The Royal College of Psychiatrists. For a number of years he has been actively involvedin the education of medical students and psychiatrists.
