I first came to Sarah Jane in a state of depression and anxiety after suffering the loss of a parent, closely followed by a miscarriage. I had life long issues with low self esteem and negativity. I knew I needed help and I’m so glad that I found her. Her kindness, patience and positivity shine through in everything she does, and she was an invaluable part of my recovery. Whilst under her care, I suffered multiple further miscarriages and I can’t emphasise enough how she helped me, giving me the tools I needed to cope and come to a place of acceptance. In my subsequent successful pregnancy, she steered me through my high levels of anxiety and she was excellent at helping me to re-frame my negative thoughts and put my own self care first. She has gently taught me to see that I matter and to be kind to myself. In her presence I felt safe and listened to, and I don’t think I would be the same person today without having had her to guide me through such a difficult period of my life.

I found Dr Sarah a very good listener who always had the right solid advice handy. She is flexible in her sessions, really feeling what it is that I need to focus on, never strictly sticking to what plan she had for the session, but moving fluidly to ensure she meets my particular problem that day. A wealth of knowledge in recommending books, apps, videos. it made my self help journey faster and more effective with her encouragement to read and listen to more books and podcasts on a variety of issues.

Dr Sarah Jane Khalid was gentle, empathetic and kind when I first became her patient, taking time to understand my circumstances, and quickly putting me at ease with the process. She has been inspirational and encouraging as I have progressed and has provided me with a lot of stimulus and information at the right pace with my development. What i have really appreciated is that not only does Dr Sarah Jane listen, but at times will challenge or provide her own observation or experience which opens up new perspectives or gives valuable advice - it doesn't just feel like me talking all the time. I have been extremely pleased with my journey and the counsel I have received - I feel I have developed and learned so much about myself under Dr Sarah Jane's guidance.

I have worked with Dr Khalid on a couple of episodes of acute anxiety/ depression over the past 5 years. She has an excellent ability to draw out relevant details and to work with patients to understand and take steps to mitigate/ resolve issues with their psychology. She has a good understanding of patients' needs, both at home and at work. Overall, I have found her insightful and inteligent and willing to both empathise and challenge as needed. Dr. Khalid has been a great help in difficult times and I would highly recommend her work to others.

This was my first experience with professional counselling. I wasn’t sure what to expect and was initially unsure. Sarah Jane has been superb. She is very attentive, reassuring and lovely to deal with. She is on top of all of the information that I have shared with her and skilfully brings this to bear on our discussions in a positive way. I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you so much for the tremendous support, guidance, challenge and encouragement you provided during my virtual sessions. It is fair to say my sessions with you became a real catalyst for change in the way I work and balance my wellbeing. I now run, walk or cycle at least 5 days per week (if not 7) – (cycling c40km per day 5 days per week and walking c16km 2 days per week) I have breakfast every day (v never having breakfast) I have a lunch break almost every day (occasionally I do skip due to other commitments though never took a lunch break previously)) I have at least 30 mins dedicated focus time per day (on a good number of days 60 mins) I usually pack away my laptop by 5.30 most days (v 6.30/7pm previously) I have lost about 10kg, feel much healthier, sleep right through the night (most nights!) and have switched to snacking on fruit, nuts and chopped veg. I can’t thank you enough for the intervention and lasting, positive impact your guidance and challenge has had. I wish you all the very best wishes

Dr Khalid's approach is warm, welcoming and made me feel at ease as soon as we met. Her technical/specialist knowledge alongside her empathy, makes the perfect combination for a therapist. I was provided with tools to help shape my thinking and also time to discuss and reflect on the outputs of the tools within our sessions. Dr Khalid didn't shy away from challenging my thoughts/perceptions but this was done in a safe environment, which really helped to 're-train' my thinking process. I would highly recommend Dr Khalid's services and wouldn't hesitate to engage with her again. Thanks again for your time, guidance and support.

I worked with Sarah-Jane for just over a year. When I approached her, both my personal and professional life had ground to a halt. I was suffering from anxiety and was unable to see the steps I needed to take to change my situation. Sarah-Jane was patient, perceptive and kind. She gave me the space and sense of safety needed to see my situation more clearly, to stop hiding from myself. She didn’t demand anything from me in our work together, but gently suggested tools that I might find useful or interesting in order to start making substantial changes in my life. As I started to use these tools I grew in confidence and was gradually able to implement small changes that added up to something substantial. Sarah-Jane was observant and insightful, and thanks to her efforts, my life is now in a different place and I feel empowered to be more honest with myself and sculpt the kind of life I want.
