About Dr Vinay Kumar Bhatia
Dr Vinay Kumar Bhatia was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Hospitals NHS Trust in 2009. He is based at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Pembury, and also practises at Spire Hospital, Tunbridge Wells, The Wells Suite Tunbridge Wells Hospital and The Nuffield Hospital, Tunbridge Wells.
Dr Bhatia qualified in medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London. He formally trained in general medicine and cardiology (for 15 years in total) in London at hospitals that included the Hammersmith Hospital (Imperial College), the Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital. This training included 3 years in basic science research (vascular biology and immunology) at Imperial College, London for which he was awarded a PhD in 2005.
Dr Bhatia is a fully trained general cardiologist with expertise in the field of cardiac imaging, specifically transthoracic, transoesophageal echocardiographic techniques and stress echocardiography (both with exercise and with pharmacological stress agents), and also diagnostic coronary angiography. He is an Honorary Consultant at Kings College, London, where he performs stress echocardiography studies and works closely with the cardiology/cardiothoracic team. Dr Bhatia is accredited by the British Society of Echocardiography for which he serves as a training supervisor and examiner.

Very prompt appointment, didn’t have to wait for more than a few minutes for anything! Very impressed! Doctor was very thorough in his explanations and made sure I was able to ask questions if I needed. Would have been good to be able to have an EVG and an echocardiogram on the same day rather than having to go back.
My experience with Dr Bhatia was fantastic. I got fast appointments and thorough diagnostic testing and clear results.
I met with Dr Bhatia after issues raised in my work medical. He quickly conducted his own tests and gave me direct explanations of what the results meant for me. We agreed a treatment pathway and some retests after a few months. His bedside manner was reassuring, with lots of checks that I understood and opportunities to ask questions. I was delighted with his support and treatment.
