Mr Ricketts trained in Orthopaedic surgery in the South West Thames region and was appointed an Orthopaedic surgeon at the Princess Royal Hospital in 1995. He specialises in surgery of the shoulder, elbow and hand.

His usual elective work concerns shoulder replacements, arthroscopic shoulder surgery (anterior stabilisation, rotator cuff repairs, subacromial decompression, ACJ excision). For trauma, he performs more general orthopaedics, but also fracture fixation and hemiarthroplasty work for severe shoulder injuries.

Mr Ricketts has a strong interest in research and training. He has over 250 publications and is an Honorary Clinical Reader at the University of Sussex. He has served on many educational committees( South West Thames Specialist Training Committee, Specialist Advisory Committee)

In his spare time Mr Ricketts is a keen ageing athlete.
