Mr Sameh A. El-Kawy started at Warwick Hospital in 2007 working as a lower limb consultant surgeon specialising in sports and joint preservation surgery for the knee, foot and ankle (adolescent and adults).
Mr El-Kawy is the clinical lead for the foot and ankle surgery at south Warwickshire hospitals as well as one of the senior consultants for Sports knee surgery in the department. He introduced the techniques of ankle cartilage transplantation surgery as well as ankle replacement to Warwick hospital in 2010. Currently he has one of the largest series in the UK for cartilage restoration surgery in both knee and ankle using AMIC technique .
Mr El-Kawy completed his training in Birmingham and London and became fully qualified consultant orthopaedic surgeon in the UK in January 2006. Following his training he completed one year to specialise in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. He has undertaken a knee reconstruction fellowship in London and also travelling fellowships in Amsterdam, Switzerland and France to learn the latest techniques in ankle and knee sports surgery from some of the world's leading experts in their fields, such as Professor N Van Dijik of Amsterdam (ankle sports surgery), Dr Pascal Rippstein of Zurich (ankle arthroplasty) and Professor P Neyret of Lyon (knee surgery).
