Dr Thomas Norman Hilliard

Dr Tom Hilliard is a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine practicing at the Bristol Paediatric Clinic. He completed his medical degree (BM BCh) at Oxford University in 1992 and went on to specialise in paediatric respiratory medicine, achieving specialist status in 2005. His postgraduate training included positions at two leading centres for paediatric respiratory care, the Royal Brompton Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. These roles provided extensive experience in managing both common and complex respiratory conditions in children.

Since 2006, Dr Hilliard has served as a Consultant Paediatric Respiratory Physician at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Alongside his clinical work, he has played an important role in medical education within the region. He previously held the positions of Training Programme Director and later Head of School for the Severn School of Paediatrics, contributing to the development of paediatric training and the professional growth of junior doctors.

Dr Hilliard’s clinical practice covers a wide range of respiratory conditions in children and young people. His specific areas of interest include chronic cough, asthma, sleep-disordered breathing, and complex inflammatory lung diseases. He provides comprehensive assessment and ongoing management for respiratory disorders, working closely with families to support long-term respiratory health.
